Howard Zinn: Robber Barons and Rebels Creative Story? Any ideas?
So I have to write a creative short story using vocab words from chapter 11 of Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States. The instructions say “Write a creative short story that addresses the following theme: ‘In the year 1877, the signals were given for the rest of the century: the blacks would be put back; the strikes of white workers would not be tolerated; the industrial and political elites of North and South would take hold of the country and organize the greatest march of economic growth in human history.’”
Incorporate the following terms in your short story:
14th amendment, John d Rockefeller, American Federation of Labor, Karl Marx, Andrew Carnegie, Knights of Labor, blacklist, monopoly, Capitalism, pinkerton gurds, congress, populist movement, coxey’s army, pullman strike, credit modilier, robber barons, haymarket, sherman antitrust act, homestead act, socialism, homestead strike, standard oil co., immigrants, supreme court, JP morgan, William Jennings Bryan,
Why not write about a poor factory worker complaining about the times and those people?

Balls and Strikes: The Money Game in Professional Baseball $74.85 “Impressively researched and well written, this valuable study by a business professor at the Universiy of North Florida. . . traces the erosion of the reserve clause and the rise of arbitration in salary disputes, examining the participants in negotiations–players, owners, managers, agents, even commissoners–and showing the stake each has in the money game.
