Wrist Release
Wrist Release
Has anyone had carpal tunnel syndrome from coming back after release surgery?

I've been told I have it in both hands. I work construction. How long until I have full strength back in both wrists after surgery? Is there anything else that works? Please help if you can.

It will if you do not let it heal properly. 4-6 weeks is the minimum time to heal, do not use the hand for at least 1-2 weeks after surgery. I had my right hand in March 2007 and still bothers me sometimes. Let it heal or you will get it done again.Good luck!

Carpal tunnel is a very small, narrow opening below the base of the wrist, between the arm and hand. Allows a major nerve (median nerve) to pass of the bones and muscles of the forearm with the palm, thumb and fingers. Because it is bound by the bones and ligaments, the carpal tunnel protects the median nerve and nine tendons that bend the fingers.

Since the opening of the tunnel is very small, is vulnerable to pressure and swelling. Pressure on the nerve causes pain and numbness in the fingers, causing a "carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).

CTS afflicts people who use their hands in a repetitive motion – Musicians, writers, assembly line workers, etc. In the last decade or so, many people who use computers have CTS. It is estimated that about 10 percent of the people who work in teams suffer from this syndrome.
